The objective of this conference is to educate attendees on regulations, technical topics, public safety, and issues affecting dams in the state. Dams pose an inherent risk to public safety and the environment, and discussion at the conference will relate to some of these risks. This conference will encourage the implementation of site investigation, design, construction, operation, maintenance and emergency preparedness for dam owners, licensed engineers and agency officials.

Each presenter must submit an abstract on their proposed topic to align with the Division of Water Resources’ goals, beliefs and policy for dam safety. The deadline to submit an abstract is Dec. 16, 2019. All abstracts should include:

  • Clearly stated subject and appropriately documented research and/or experience.
  •  Discussion of why proposed topic relates to the objective of the conference.
  • Presenter’s qualifications in the subject matter.
  • Conceptually strong foundation and clearly stated desired outcome of the proposed discussion topic.

Please submit your abstract as an attachment to laura.gray@ks.gov. Presenters will be notified by Dec. 30, 2019, if their proposal is selected.
